Quilting 101 Sample
In this class you will learn to choose fabrics (color combinations), rotary cutting, piecing, quilting, and binding. This is a six week course. You will have a finished quilt at the end.

Vintage Memories Sample
Once you’ve taken beginning quilting, you want to tackle this darling quilt. In this class we will do a feathered star, appliqué, yo-yos, triangular border, double pinwheels, square in a square, and basket blocks. There will be homework in order to keep up with the schedule. Finished size is 56” x 68”.

Do the Twist Sample
No, we are not dancing, we’re quilting. A very beginner friendly quilt or a great stash buster for all of you with collections. It’s also a very ‘fat quarter’ friendly project. You can make any size from lap to king size. This is a technique class, so you will finish the quilt at your leisure. Beginning quilting is a prerequisite.

My Precious Feet
Explore and experiment with the additional Bernina
and Pfaff feet. I will share with you how these feet can make your sewing project easier. The class will
include the following feet: Pintuck, Gathering, Fringe, Cording, Piping, Ruffler, Bias Binder and Roll Hemmers. For this class you must own a Bernina or Pfaff sewing machine.
Cost is $10 if machine is purchased from Bernina Pfaff Sewing Center, otherwise $20.

Bobbin Work Sample
Learn the technique of bobbin work by putting heavy thread in the bobbin. We will be playing with the tension on both the bobbin and the top threads. An extra bobbin case is required for all machines except the new Bernina 830E. You must own a Bernina or Pfaff sewing machine in order to take this class.

Quilt Me Twice Please Sample
First we are going to quilt using the embroidery machine, and then we will do a little free motion. The combination of the two will make it look like it was quilted on a long arm machine. A finished quilt top is needed for this class.

Cutwork Embroidery Sample
Cutwork is a wonderful technique and the embroidery machine makes it simple. Make a cutwork tablecloth, pillow sham or pillow case and learn the technique in this class.

Bind Those Edges
In this class you will learn how to finish the edges of your quilted projects. You will bind a small quilted piece using double fold binding, have beautifully mitered corners and a virtually invisible joining where the binding meets. We will discuss other methods of binding, alternatives for traditional binding, and adding a rod pocket to your quilted project.

Let’s Not Stipple – A Free Motion Workshop
We will cover the basics of free motion quilting in this workshop like needles, threads, starts and stops and sewing on a drawn line. We’ll explore different background fills and you will learn that free motion is more than just stippling.

Twister or Lil’ Twister Sample
A fun new way to make pinwheel blocks. Rather than cutting individual pinwheel pieces to sew together, the squares are sewn together and the pinwheels are cut using the template. These templates are designed for the popular 5” and 10” precut fabric packs but the precuts are certainly not necessary. Cut your own squares if you don’t find a package that you like.

Doublecross Sample
Doublecross can be either bold or subtle depending on your fabric choices. The really nice thing about this pattern is that it’s only three fabrics and only one block to create the double diagonal chain.

You can make your entire doll, bonnet, and dress using just one standard new pillowcase. Or create your own heirloom from “Grandma’s” beautiful old pillowcase, a flea market find, or your own embroidery creation. Whatever you choose, it will be a very special gift for years to come. Coconut Meringue Sample
Create this stunning positive-negative block throw using just 2 color families or other high contrast fabrics. My sample incorporates light and dark batiks. The 12 inch blocks go together very quickly with the use of 2 ½ inch strips. The pattern used is called “Beveled Blocks” and is appropriate for beginners to experienced alike!

My Fat 8th Sample
Someone once handed me a stack of "fat 8th"s and said see what you can do with these. Voila! Here it is! My Fat 8th. You just need 28 half fat quarters and you can create this beautiful quilt. Simple, simple simple! I used all batiks, but you could use color coordinated prints, or go totally scrappy. Fast and easy!

Hanging Garden Sample
A Jelly Roll quilt. You only need 22 strips from a Jelly Roll, and what a nice quilt it makes up to be. You could take this class with a friend and share the Jelly Roll and then just have to buy a little bit more fabric or dip into your stash. Great with batiks or any printed cotton fabrics. If you have never made a quilt on point, this one will be fun for you. A two part class with lots of homework. But, lots of fun.

Flower Burst or Star Burst Sample
Call it what you like, because anything you put in the middle of it will appear that it is bursting.
This is a paper pieced project and fairly simple. It is another two part class with homework. It is a very stunning quilt. I made it as a wall hanging, and for the more industrious students you could make enough squares to make a much larger quilt.

Forever Yours Sample
Always wanted to make a double wedding ring, but afraid of curved piecing? Then this is the quilt for you. A lot of straight piecing and then there is a technique that will be used to give the rings the curved look. There is also some overlay of piecing that gives this quilt a textured look. Beginning Needleturn Appliqué - 'Star Flowers & Berries' by Jo Morton Sample
Once again Leslie is using a traditional pattern by Jo Morton to inspire you to try hand appliqué! It is a pattern that has stood the test of time as you can see when comparing the plaid/reproduction look in Jo's book and the blue, yellow and green sample hanging in the shop. Join Leslie in learning the needleturn method of hand appliqué, stems using bias bars and perfect (no kidding!) circles. We will start from scratch so beginners are welcome as is anyone who would like to brush up on their appliqué skills.

Hand Piecing Sample
Leslie has been asked numerous times over the last few years to show you how to hand piece. Not only is it a very portable and relaxing method of piecing but it also allows you to piece difficult patterns and set-in seams with great accuracy and control. We will start in this class with the simple nine-patch, learning how to make a template, transfer the shape and stitch an accurate block. Don't think, "I don't have time for that"! Five minutes here and there is all it takes!

Crazy Curves Sample
When Leslie saw the sets of acrylic templates for this quilt in the shop recently, she knew this was her next opportunity to take away your fear of curved piecing! The templates are fool-proof, the curves are gentle, it is all pieced by machine and the results are guaranteed! Leslie chose to use her ever-expanding collection of mouth-watering batiks but any grouping of related fabrics would be a success!

Stepping Stones Sample
Leslie has been a fan of Judy Niemeyer's paper-pieced quilt patterns for years and was intrigued by this 52" x 60" beauty! She used her favorite batiks but this quilt can be made from any collection of 2 1/2" strips. Have you seen the rolls of strips already precut for you in the store? This is a perfect time to use one or you can cut your own. The more fabrics, the better for this easy to piece quilt!

Intermediate Needleturn Appliqué - 'Rose of Sharon' Sample
Many of you have taken the beginning needleturn appliqué class in the past few years and now is your chance to build on those skills! You will work to improve your appliqué stitching and explore how to overlap appliqué pieces, keeping them accurate and flat!

Beginning Bear Sample
We will be making a child-safe teddy bear with safety joints, eyes and nose. You will learn to work with fur, joint your teddy bear to make the arms, legs and head move, and put in eyes and a nose. The supply list will suggest two types of stuffing. One stuffing is softer than the other.
Everyone loves a teddy bear. You need no experience to enjoy this class. Kit fee $30 plus tax

Crazy Patch Teddy Sample
Several people have asked for the crazy patch teddy we did in 2005. Kit fees will vary depending on the extent of your kit. I had planned to suggest you supply the fabric, trims, and materials for your teddy. However, I used all velvets and the students wanted to use the same velvets, so I provided a kit to create a teddy like the sample. You can purchase a kit with joints and imported glass eyes, plus perle cotton for the nose for $6. A full kit with velvet fabrics will be $45. This will be a two-day class. The first day, we will create the fabric , embellish it, and add trims. We will also cut out the teddy bear pieces. The second day, will be used to create the teddy bear. Experienced bear makers will enjoy this class.

Monkey Sample
We will be making a mohair monkey with fine merino wool for the face, hands and feet. Joco, will be a little challenging with needle sculpting.
Students should have some experience to be able to enjoy and finish this fun project. We will be using traditional joints and imported handmade glass eyes. Come see the sample. The design is a little different from my traditional teddy bears.

Spud Bag (Class 1)
This bag is made for microwaving potatoes, corn, and other items. It is constructed of 100% cotton to prevent melting in during cooking process. These bags make great gift items as well as use in your own kitchen. A simple beginner project.
